SADA in collaboration with Surbana Jurong, a premier Spatial and City Modeling agency of the Singapore Government, made a presentation on the Transport and Infrastructure plans of Buipe and Tamale for some key Ministries and MDAs on June 1, 2017 at the SADA Accra Conference Hall. This was streamed live on our Social Media. The purpose was to enable key ministries make an input into these plans before they are finalized. This is part of the final engagement processes of the design of the Northern Savannah Ecological Zone Long-Term Plan.The meeting brought together Directors and Chief Directors of the Ministry of Railway Development,Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, the Ministry of Special Development Initiatives, Ministry of Inner City and Zongo Development, Ministry of Transport, Ghana Water Company Limited, Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund and the media among others.

The Minister for Special Development Initiatives, Hon. Mavis Hawa Koomson, who chaired the meeting lauded the transport and Infrastructure plans as key drivers of transformation for Buipe and Tamale in line with the vision of H.E. President Nana Addo-Dankwa Akufo Addo. In her opening remarks, she indicated that her Ministry, which will soon pass a Bill in Parliament to set up the Development Authorities, would continue to use the Development Authorities as the key institutional framework to facilitate the transformation of the entire country in line with government’s policy agenda. She was happy that SADA, which will soon be renamed the Northern Development Authority, has already carved out a master plan that situates the zone for investments and transformation. She pledged her Ministry’s support in the leadership of SADA and promised Government’s commitment and support to ensure the transformation of the NSEZ.
